Xiaomi reforça equipa com ex-diretor de design da Lamborghini

Fabian Schmölz, former exterior design director at Lamborghini, will take on the role of design director at Xiaomi Auto in Europe.

According to Chinese media reports this Thursday, Schmölz, who played a key role in the Temerario model, will be responsible for the design of the Chinese brand at the electric vehicle research and development center in Europe.

The news comes at a time when the first models from Xiaomi, the SU7 and the YU7, have attracted considerable market attention for their exterior design, which many have compared to sports models from Porsche and Ferrari.

It should be noted that Xiaomi has already revealed plans to begin selling its models globally in 2027; however, the Chinese brand has been recruiting engineers and designers from various European brands in recent times, such as BMW, where last year it hired Rudolf Dittrich to lead the European research center, as well as Dusan Sarac joining Xiaomi’s European operations after several years at BMW and Rolls-Royce.

Xiaomi is a success story in the Chinese market, where in August, for the second consecutive month, it sold over 30,000 units of its SU7, SU7 Ultra, and YU7 SUV models.

Alongside the growth in sales, Xiaomi continues to expand its factory in Beijing to increase production, which recently led the company’s founder and CEO, Lei Jun, to set a sales target of 350,000 units for 2025.
