Novo Porsche Cayenne elétrico vai estrear carregamentos por indução

Porsche is preparing to offer wireless electric charging for its 100% electric models.

The German automaker intends to launch a 11 kW charging system with a single base plate for fully electric vehicles. The single base plate means it is installed in the parking lot or garage, and does not require any wall box or control unit.

The new fully electric generation of the Porsche Cayenne will be the first model series from the brand to be available for order with the features for using this new inductive charging system.

For the charging process, the Cayenne only needs to be parked above the base plate. The contactless energy transfer between the two charging units occurs at a distance of a few centimeters. For this, the Cayenne automatically lowers.

In addition, the base plate has a motion detector and foreign object detection. The charging process is automatically interrupted if an animal or person comes between the vehicle and the plate or if a metallic object placed on top of the base heats up.

The induction plate for electric charging weighs 50 kg and is equipped as standard with an LTE and WLAN module to allow for remote software updates.

“Operational comfort, daily use, and charging infrastructure remain the decisive factors for advancing electric mobility”, said Michael Steiner, member of the Porsche Development Board. “We are proud to soon offer inductive charging for Porsche’s series production models. Charging an electric car at home has never been so easy and convenient.”

The German brand has already announced that this new charging solution, named Porsche Wireless Charging, will initially be launched in Europe in 2026, and later in other global markets.
