Aston Martin chooses not to contest Alonso’s penalty in the Australian Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso, driver of the Aston Martin Formula 1 team, will not seek a review of the penalty he received at the Australian Grand Prix. The penalty was imposed by the FIA Stewards, who deemed Alonso’s driving potentially dangerous and a contributing factor to George Russell’s accident. Despite dropping from sixth to eighth place as a result of the penalty, Alonso criticized the decision, stating it was a natural response for any racing driver. Aston Martin Team Principal, Mike Krack, expressed the team’s support for Alonso, but acknowledged they do not have new evidence to appeal the decision. Krack highlighted Alonso’s extensive experience and success in Formula 1 and other racing categories, comparing his strategic maneuvers in the race to his previous podium in Brazil. Both Krack and Alonso emphasized that Alonso’s driving was a demonstration of high-level skill in motorsports and that he would never intentionally put others in danger.
