Alpine Racing Hits Rock Bottom: A New F1 Record for Failure

In a shocking turn of events in the 2025 Formula 1 season, Alpine Racing has etched its name into the annals of motorsport history—not for success, but for an unprecedented record of mediocrity. As the dust settles on 14 of the 24 races, the team finds itself languishing at the bottom of the constructors’ standings with a paltry 20 points. This dismal performance has been compounded by a series of upheavals, including the departure of their team principal and a dramatic driver swap.

Leading the charge for Alpine is Pierre Gasly, who has managed to salvage some pride with a sixth-place finish at the British Grand Prix. However, the same cannot be said for his teammates, Jack Doohan and Franco Colapinto, who have failed to make any significant impact, both settling for a disappointing 13th place as their best effort. This lackluster showing has raised eyebrows and questions about the team’s direction and future.

The grim tally of 20 points not only signifies Alpine’s struggle but has also secured them a dubious honor—the record for the ‘best worst team’ in F1 history. No other team in the history of the constructors’ championship has accumulated as many points while residing at the bottom of the standings. This ignominious record surpasses the previous low set by Haas in 2023, who recorded just 12 points.

While Alpine scrambles to break free from their current predicament, the team is eyeing Haas, who sits just above them in ninth place with 35 points, as their next target. The question on everyone’s mind is whether Alpine can claw their way out of this pitiful position or if they are destined to be remembered as the benchmark for failure in Formula 1.

As the season progresses, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if Alpine can turn the tide. Will they rise from the ashes of this record-breaking disappointment, or will they continue to spiral downward? One thing is for sure: the stakes have never been higher, and the pressure is mounting for Alpine Racing.
