Ryan Preece’s Fiery Determination: Will He Conquer Richmond and Secure a Playoff Spot?

Ryan Preece: “I F*cking Hate Losing!” – The NASCAR Star Sets Sights on Victory at Richmond

In the cutthroat world of NASCAR, losing is not just disappointing; it’s downright infuriating. Ryan Preece, the fierce competitor behind the wheel of the No. 60 Ford, made it abundantly clear how much he detests falling short in his quest for victory. Following a frustrating P13 finish at Watkins Glen, Preece is fired up and unwavering in his determination to clinch a win at Richmond, where he believes triumph is essential to secure a coveted playoff spot.

Preece has been teetering on the edge of playoff contention since his performance at Pocono, where the stakes began to rise significantly. A promising outing at Indianapolis saw him leading the pack during Stage 2 before ultimately finishing fourth. The momentum continued with a stellar second-place finish at Iowa, only to be dashed at Watkins Glen where he finished in the 13th position, leaving him 34 points adrift from the playoff cutline. As the regular season draws to a close, the pressure is mounting, and Preece knows he must seize the moment.

“I think, you know, for us, you can definitely manage those expectations, but I f**king hate losing, so it’s hard to do that,” Preece declared passionately. “I want to go to Richmond and do whatever it takes to win. There’s a lot of passion in racing, and it’s refreshing to be back in the thick of it.” His words resonate with anyone who’s felt the sting of defeat.

With just two races remaining before the playoffs, Preece remains mathematically in contention for one of the final three spots, but he knows that a victory is non-negotiable. “If we can squeeze our way into these playoffs, I think we can be a real upset,” he boldly stated, showcasing his belief in his team’s potential.

Meanwhile, Chris Buescher, who finished third on August 10, has been a significant competitor. His performance has allowed him to accumulate 12 playoff points over Preece, putting him in a stronger position as the season winds down. Although Brad Keselowski has been eliminated from mathematical contention, his experience as a multi-time Richmond winner keeps him in the conversation for a possible playoff miracle.

In a recent interview, Preece opened up about his battle against teammate Chris Buescher for that coveted playoff berth. The tension has been palpable ever since Bubba Wallace scored a win at the Brickyard, locking Preece and Buescher into a fierce competition near the cutline. Speaking with NASCAR correspondent Claire B. Lang, Preece addressed the potential ramifications of their points battle. “If the points battle is really close going into Daytona, obviously, we’re going to take care of each other when it comes to superspeedway,” he explained. “I don’t necessarily think that I would go and wreck somebody to try to get points like that. I’m just gonna race everybody the way I’d want to be raced.”

However, history has not been kind to Preece at Richmond compared to Buescher, who boasts a stronger track record. Preece’s best finish at the venue is a fifth-place result in 2023, while Buescher has celebrated victory there. With Buescher’s two additional top-10 finishes in the Next Gen Era, he currently holds a distinct advantage over his RFK Racing teammate.

As the NASCAR season approaches its climax, all eyes will be on Richmond. Will Ryan Preece channel his frustration into a triumphant performance, or will the sting of lost opportunities continue to haunt him? One thing is for sure: he’s willing to fight tooth and nail to ensure that this time, he doesn’t leave empty-handed. The roar of the engines at Richmond promises to be electrifying, and fans are eager to witness which driver will rise to the occasion in this high-stakes showdown.
