Subaru BRZ pode chegar à Europa em versão elétrica

Subaru is considering launching the third generation of the sporty BRZ. The twin brother of the Toyota GR 86, with an electric version in Europe.

Inoue Masahiko, global director of electric products at Subaru, confirmed to “Autocar” that “all options are open”, and that an electric version of the BRZ “is being considered”.

When asked if the current BRZ could reach the European market with an electric motor, Masahiko made it clear that it would be “difficult” due to the vehicle’s limited space and considering that an electric version would be “easier” to develop.

It is worth noting that Subaru aims to sell around 1.2 million vehicles worldwide by 2030, about half of which will be electric vehicles. The brand intends to use electrification to highlight its well-known strengths – especially all-wheel drive.

In addition to the second generation of the Solterra SUV and the off-road version E-Outback, Subaru now has a new SUV, the Uncharted.

Inoue Masahiko noted that the three electric models still need to prove their worth before the launch of new 100% electric models, particularly the arrival of sporty models like the BRZ. “We have a very positive impression of Subaru enthusiasts, but we need to see how the Uncharted performs first.”
