Mercedes Shocks the Racing World with a Bold Move to Boost Confidence in Drivers

In a jaw-dropping decision, Mercedes has taken a step back to the ‘old’ rear suspension to rebuild the confidence of their drivers, George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The move comes after a tense period of disappointing performances, with the team aiming to regain lost trust and form.

George Russell expressed his thoughts on the bold strategy, stating, “Today has been a strange day. Although we expected to see McLaren performing well, there were some surprises on the timing sheets. The Aston Martin seemed to have a good pace on a single lap, and several other cars appeared competitive on the long run. Our focus was still on ourselves. We reintroduced the previous specifications of our rear suspension to find more stability in the car. We didn’t expect a huge leap forward, but overall, the car was more enjoyable to drive and gave me more confidence. It was, therefore, a positive Friday, and now we will continue working throughout the weekend to ensure a solid result on Sunday.”

On the other hand, Andrea Kimi Antonelli shared his optimism, saying, “I am quite satisfied after today’s practices. The car has given me more confidence compared to the last races, and it seems like I have managed to improve lap times. We still lack a bit of speed compared to the front runners, but hopefully, this is a good foundation to build upon. In my best lap, with little fuel, I encountered a lot of traffic, so we could have achieved better times. The long run looked competitive, so I am definitely optimistic for the weekend. That being said, Friday means nothing. We know how crucial track position is here, so we will have to do a good job in tomorrow afternoon’s qualifying. We will have to give our best to have a good chance of scoring important points on Sunday because the grid is really tight.”

The shocking move by Mercedes has sent ripples through the racing world, with fans eagerly anticipating the results of this bold strategy. Will this daring decision pay off and lead to a resurgence for the powerhouse team? Stay tuned as the drama unfolds on the tracks of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
