In a shocking turn of events, Toto Wolff, the mastermind behind Mercedes’ F1 team, has dropped a bombshell clue about the driver lineup for the upcoming season that has left fans in a frenzy. Speculations were rife about the possibility of F1 champion Max Verstappen joining Mercedes, especially after Christian Horner’s departure from Red Bull added fuel to the fire. However, Wolff seems to have poured cold water on these rumors by hinting at retaining the current lineup for 2026.

Wolff hinted at a high likelihood of sticking with the current drivers, expressing his desire to see George Russell alongside young talent Kimi Antonelli in the upcoming season. While addressing the media, Wolff stated, “There’s the largest of probabilities, even if nothing is 100 per cent, that this is going to be the lineup for the next year. I want to stay with Kimi and George as it stands.”

The Mercedes chief also playfully commented on Horner’s future in the sport, suggesting that the Brit might make a comeback in some capacity. However, the focus remains on the potential partnership between Russell and Antonelli, with Wolff drawing parallels to the iconic duo of Prost and Senna.

Despite the buzz surrounding the driver lineup, Mercedes faced a challenging start at the Belgian Grand Prix, with Russell and Antonelli finishing 12th and 17th, respectively, in the sprint race. As tensions rise and speculations continue to swirl, F1 fans are eagerly awaiting the final confirmation of Mercedes’ driver lineup for the next season.

Stay tuned for more updates as the F1 saga unfolds, with twists and turns that are sure to keep enthusiasts on the edge of their seats.
