The pursuit of speed records has led sports car brands to make headlines recently. However, the latest record shows that the electrification strategy is a winning bet, not only on four wheels.
This is all because the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom, an electric boat presented in 2024, has just achieved a speed record at the 12th edition of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, becoming the fastest vessel by sailing at an average speed of 92.3 km/h.
Developed in collaboration with the Austrian recreational boat manufacturer, Frauscher, the 850 Fantom measures 8.67 meters in length and 2.49 meters in width, designed to deliver electric performance on the water comparable to Porsche’s sports models.
The core of the project is the propulsion system from the fully electric Porsche Macan Turbo, adapted for nautical use. Combined with the iconic shape of the Frauscher 858 Fantom’s hull, the result is an electric boat with exceptional performance, cutting-edge technology, and a sleek aesthetic.
Just as Porsche’s two-seater sports cars are offered as a coupe or convertible, Frauscher offers variants such as the Runabout (closed deck, classic style, and cockpit below the front deck) or the Air (central command post with leisure area and sun loungers at the bow).
