Honda anuncia fim da linha para o Civic Type R com edição especial

Honda has already announced the end of the line for the iconic Civic Type R in Europe, and to mark the end of the sports model, it launched the new “Ultimate Edition,” limited to 40 units.

The end of the Civic Type R in Europe is motivated by new pollution emission regulations, which are set to come into effect in January 2026.

However, in an interview with “AutoExpress,” the leader of the Honda Prelude project, Tomoyuki Yamagami, left the door open for the future of the Type R to possibly include an electric model, making it clear that the Type R can be anything that the “market demands,” adding that the Type R emblem “does not depend on a turbo engine.”

According to Yamagami, the Type R emblem aims to maximize the dynamic attributes of the car. However, a fully electric version of the sports model will likely still take years to be released.

Reinforcing Yamagami’s position is a high-performance electric vehicle market that is slowly beginning to show signs of emerging, with Hyundai being the first brand to prove that it is possible to manufacture fast and engaging electric vehicles with the Ioniq 5 N or the Alpine A290.

It is worth noting that Honda has planned for 2026 the launch of two new electric models, a sedan and an SUV, based on the Series 0 concepts, and so far has not confirmed plans for a more sporty model with the Type R badge.
