Renovados VW ID.4 e ID.5 já estão disponíveis no mercado nacional

VW is preparing a refresh of the ID.4 for 2026, which promises significant changes to the well-known 100% electric model, in order to boost sales of the popular electric SUV and position it as an electric equivalent of the Tiguan.

The ID.4 was launched in 2020 and is currently one of the most successful electric models, as according to data from “Jato Dynamics,” it currently ranks fourth among the best-selling fully electric vehicles in Europe.

This refresh aims to keep the ID.4 appealing, and according to Thomas Schäfer, CEO of VW, in an interview with the British “Autocar,” “the model is being completely redesigned, both inside and out. It will be a completely different car – a significant leap forward.”

The visual changes will align the refreshed ID.4 with the upcoming 100% electric models from the German brand, the ID.1 and ID.2. VW’s design director, Kai Grünitz, revealed to the same publication that the refreshed model will adopt the new design language unveiled with the concept ID.2all in 2023.

In this way, VW aims to give the refreshed ID.4 a flatter and more compact silhouette, ensuring a consistent appearance with the new models. The interior will also feature a set of new elements: a redesigned cockpit with a new user interface and the return of physical buttons and displays, aimed at improving usability and everyday use.

The technical details of the new ID.4 have not yet been disclosed. However, it is certain that, just like the compact ID.3, the new generation of VW’s electric SUV will benefit from the efficiency and performance improvements already introduced in recent models, such as the ID.7, available in sedan and wagon versions. Among the improvements are updated transmission systems and new battery and inverter technologies.

According to “Autocar,” the market launch of the renewed ID.3 is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, to be followed by the ID.4.
