Chase Briscoe: The Upcoming Star Stepping into the No. 19 Seat at Joe Gibbs Racing

With an unexpected win at Pocono, Chase Briscoe silenced critics who wondered if he could handle the legendary No. 19 Toyota Camry previously driven by Martin Truex Jr. His success on the track, however, is only part of the story; he also shares a genuine bond with the fishing world.

Joe Gibbs Racings No. 19 team has carried the Bass Pro Shops name since 2019, drawing support from the retailer best known for fishing, hunting, and camping gear. As an eager angler, Briscoe welcomed the brands continued backing after Truex stepped away, calling it a rare match between his hobby and the teams primary sponsor.

In a recent sit-down on Todays Lely Radio Sports Page, driver Chase Briscoe opened up about his new deal and grinned while saying, The best part for me is the Bass Pro Shops tie-in. I have loved fishing since I was a little kid. Over the past four or five years I also started hunting, so having Bass Pro Shops on the car feels like a perfect fit.

Briscoes passion for the water was clear as he showed off photos with fishing icon Kevin VanDam, both of them wearing Bass Pro gear front and center. That deep, personal bond with the brand helped convince many that Briscoe was the right man to take the wheel after Martin Truex Jr.

Coach Gibbs acknowledges that Chase Briscoe was recruited not merely because he enjoys fishing, but because of his personal makeup and proven ability to win. Gibbs noted that a drivers character is the starting point for any team; he explained, The most important thing we have is our people and the people that you have on your team . Still, he added, We have to win. After careful consideration, the team concluded, We think Chase can win.

Gibbs confidence in Briscoe appears justified. The thirty-year-old driver now sits ninth in the points standings and has already locked in a berth for the playoffs. This early achievement underscores Joe Gibbs Racings ability to identify talent and project what a newcomer might deliver both on the track and in the garage.

As the new custodian of the No. 19 Toyota Camry XSE, Briscoe carries more than decals; he carries a story of hard work, strong partnerships, and an unyielding drive to pursue excellence in NASCAR.
