Nissan announced the start of production at the Sunderland factory in the United Kingdom of the most technologically advanced Qashqai ever. The brand’s best-seller now comes with enhanced features thanks to the introduction of the third generation of Nissan’s hybrid system, e-Power.
The system includes a new 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with three cylinders, which now boasts greater thermal efficiency and functions as a generator.
Alongside the combustion engine is a new electric power unit, which is lighter, more compact, and features an electric motor that drives the Qashqai, transmission, and inverter. The electric motor is now more powerful, delivering 205 hp, which is 15 hp more than its predecessor, and in Sport mode it provides an additional 14 hp.
What remains unchanged in the new e-Power system is the 2.1 kWh battery that equipped the Qashqai e-Power until now. The new e-Power system announces lower consumption and CO2 emissions: 4.5 l/100 km and 102 g/km, which is 0.6 l/100 km and 14 g/km less than its predecessor.
The Qashqai also receives a technological boost, with improvements in driving assistance and connectivity, highlighted by the enhanced ProPILOT system for automated driving on multi-lane roads.
In addition, the Google-based infotainment system allows access to Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store. Also noteworthy are the Nissan Trip Stories, which enable you to record and share your favorite trips through the NissanConnect Services app.
The start of production of the Qashqai with the new generation of e-Power in Sunderland coincides with the factory celebrating the production of 4.5 million units since 2006, averaging one unit every two and a half minutes over 19 years.
