Lamborghini testou o Urus SE no centro técnico de Nardò

Lamborghini is the latest brand to postpone the launch of new fully electric models, to maintain its focus on plug-in hybrid models.

Stephan Winkelman, CEO of Lamborghini, revealed in an interview with “Autocar” that the next generation of the Urus, the Italian brand’s sports SUV, will retain a plug-in hybrid engine, thus delaying the launch of a 100% electric version, which may only arrive in 2035.

Winkelman emphasized that the uncertainty surrounding regulations led to this choice for a hybrid engine, reinforcing that it is a “very important decision for us and for the customers.”

Although he did not reveal details about the new generation of the Urus, it is already known that it will arrive in 2029, as previously announced by the brand from Sant’Agata Bolognese; however, Lamborghini continues to delay the launch of the electric version of the Urus.

Remember that the Italian brand had to postpone the launch of the production version of the Lanzador concept from 2028 to 2029, and now makes it clear that the 100% electric variant of the Urus is not expected to arrive for another decade.

This position from Lamborghini is likely influenced by the possibility that the European Union may make changes to emission standards, specifically the potential to reverse the ban on combustion engines by the end of the decade.
