Is Lewis Hamilton’s Career Revival Hinging on Ferrari’s Success?

Lewis Hamilton’s much-anticipated move to Ferrari in 2025 has been met with mixed results, leaving fans and experts questioning if the British racing icon can reignite his former glory with the Italian team.

Damon Hill, the 1996 world champion, believes that Ferrari holds the key to Hamilton’s resurgence. Speaking to GQ, Hill emphasized the importance of Ferrari providing Hamilton with a competitive car if they aim to see the return of the dominant Lewis of old. Hill expressed support for Hamilton’s decision to seek a fresh challenge at Ferrari, highlighting how a new environment can rejuvenate a driver’s career.

At 40 years old, Hamilton faces the inevitable challenges that come with aging in Formula 1, as noted by Hill. The mental strain of racing outside the top positions becomes more pronounced as drivers grow older, making it essential for Hamilton to have a competitive car to maintain his peak performance.

Despite facing difficulties in the first half of the season, Hamilton has shown glimpses of brilliance with Ferrari, securing impressive results such as back-to-back fourth-place finishes and a sprint race victory in China. However, challenges persist, with Hamilton openly discussing the struggles of the SF-25 car in wet conditions.

Ferrari’s CEO, Benedetto Vigna, publicly supported team principal Fred Vasseur amid speculations about the team’s future, emphasizing unity and determination to bridge the gap to competitors like McLaren and Red Bull.

Looking ahead to the 2026 season, both Hamilton and Ferrari are focused on leveraging their collaboration to capitalize on the upcoming rule changes. Italian media have urged Ferrari to heed Hamilton’s wealth of experience and championship-winning expertise in developing their future cars, highlighting a shared eagerness to translate potential into tangible success.

As Hamilton’s narrative at Ferrari continues to unfold, the outcome remains uncertain. The prospect of Hamilton reclaiming his former glory hinges on Ferrari’s ability to provide him with the necessary tools and support. Will Ferrari be the catalyst for a Hamilton renaissance, or will the partnership fall short of expectations, leaving Hamilton’s legacy as a tale of intermittent brilliance rather than sustained triumph?
