The 112th edition of the Tour de France, the most famous stage cycling race in the world, kicks off this Saturday, with Skoda Auto renewing its presence as the main partner for the 22nd consecutive year.
The Czech car manufacturer will again provide up to 225 support vehicles for the organization, all of which are fully electric or plug-in hybrid models. Among these, two examples of the iconic “Red Car” stand out – the new Skoda Enyaq and the Superb iV – which will accompany the race director, Christian Prudhomme.
Skoda also continues its role as a long-time sponsor of the green jersey, awarded to the leader of the points classification, and is responsible for creating the trophies for the overall winner, the mountain leader, the points leader, and the best young cyclist.
This year’s edition of the Tour de France will feature 184 cyclists, distributed across 23 teams, who will cover 21 stages totaling 3,339 kilometers, with the final arrival at the Champs-Élysées in Paris on July 27.
“As we celebrate the 130th anniversary of the brand, our commitment to cycling is stronger than ever. We are excited to be part of one of the most-watched sporting events on the planet, providing a modern fleet of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to support this thrilling race,” said Martin Jahn, member of the Board of Directors of Skoda Auto responsible for Sales and Marketing.
