Flavio Briatore Appoints Steve Nielsen and Snags Ferrari Talent to Revamp Alpine F1

In a bold move to revamp their struggling team, Alpine has made significant changes ahead of the 2026 season. The Enstone-based outfit, currently languishing at the bottom of the Constructors’ standings, has pulled off a series of strategic maneuvers that are set to shake up the Formula 1 landscape.

Flavio Briatore, the mastermind behind this transformation, has handpicked seasoned veteran Steve Nielsen to take the reins as Managing Director, following the unexpected departure of former team principal Oliver Oakes. Nielsen, a trusted ally of Briatore, brings a wealth of experience to Alpine, having previously held key roles at Enstone during the team’s successful Benetton and Renault eras.

But the shake-up doesn’t stop there. Alpine has also poached talent from Ferrari, securing Kris Midgley to lead their aerodynamic development department. With Midgley’s expertise and a direct line to Executive Technical Director David Sanchez, Alpine aims to bolster its technical prowess in preparation for the upcoming regulations overhaul in 2026.

Additionally, the team has announced the appointment of Guy Martin as their new Marketing Director, luring him from Visa where he played a pivotal role in driving sponsorship strategies for various high-profile sporting events and partnerships.

Alpine’s strategic overhaul signals a bold statement of intent as they gear up to challenge the Formula 1 establishment in the seasons to come. With a revamped leadership team and key technical acquisitions, all eyes will be on Alpine as they aim to climb back up the ranks and stake their claim at the front of the grid.
