The Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP) revealed this Wednesday that the sale of electrified light passenger vehicles recorded a growth of 44.3% in the sixth month of 2025, compared to the same month of the previous year, with 12,800 units registered.
In a statement, ACAP adds that from January to June 2025, the registrations of light passenger vehicles of this type totaled 70,783 units, which translated into a positive variation of 36.7% compared to the first half of 2024.
Meanwhile, the sales of 100% electric vehicles increased by 21.5% in June compared to the same month of the previous year, with 4,642 new light passenger vehicles registered.
Overall, in the first six months of 2025, there was an increase of 30.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, with 25,017 fully electric cars registered.
As for the market for electrified light commercial vehicles, which includes electric, plug-in, and hybrid electric light commercial vehicles, there was a positive evolution of 25.5% in the sixth month of 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, with 295 units registered.
In cumulative terms, this market reached 1,564 units, representing a growth of 17.7% compared to last year.
On the other hand, sales of 100% electric light commercial vehicles recorded a growth of 23.8% in the number of registrations in June compared to the same month of the previous year. From January to June 2025, there is a growth of 16.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, with 1,541 registered.
For its part, the heavy vehicle market, which includes passenger and commercial types, recorded an increase of 37.5% in June compared to the same month in 2024, with only 11 100% electric vehicles registered.
In cumulative terms, in the first half of 2025, there was a positive evolution of 17.6% compared to the same period in 2024, with 60 vehicles of this type registered.
