Has Ferrari’s F1 Revamp Come Too Late to Save Their Season?

Ferrari had high hopes for the 2025 Formula 1 season, aiming to build on their successes from the previous year and challenge for the constructors’ championship. However, things have not gone according to plan, with McLaren surging ahead and Ferrari lagging behind due to their decision to take a different approach with this year’s car.

Despite the setbacks, Ferrari introduced a floor update at the Austrian Grand Prix, hoping to enhance their performance on the track. While the updates showed some improvements, they were still no match for the dominant McLarens, leaving Ferrari to settle for third and fourth place finishes.

Drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc acknowledged the progress made with the updates but emphasized the need for further development to close the gap with their rivals. Ferrari is determined to bridge the performance deficit and challenge the likes of McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes.

As the F1 season progresses, Ferrari faces the dilemma of whether to shift focus to the upcoming regulations or continue refining their current car. The team believes that ongoing development is crucial not only for this season but also for enhancing their capabilities and tools for the future.

Deputy team principal Jerome d’Ambrosio highlighted the importance of balancing the demands of the current season with preparations for the significant changes in 2026. Ferrari aims to maintain its momentum and capitalize on any opportunities that may arise, especially if their competitors stumble.

With the second half of the season underway, Ferrari is optimistic about their prospects but remains vigilant for any slip-ups from their rivals. The Prancing Horse is poised to pounce on any setbacks from McLaren or other teams to bolster their championship aspirations.

As the F1 season heats up, Ferrari is on a mission to salvage their campaign and emerge as a formidable contender on the track. The question remains: will their late resurgence be enough to turn the tide in their favor and secure a spot at the top of the podium?
