Young Ferrari prodigy, Dino Beganovic, is set to shake up the motorsport world with a surprise Formula E debut! The rising star in the Ferrari Driver Academy will make his first foray into the all-electric racing series at the upcoming Berlin rookie test, courtesy of Mahindra Racing.
Teaming up with fellow Formula 2 driver Kush Maini, Beganovic will showcase his talent at the Berlin Tempelhof Airport Circuit on July 14. Despite his young age of 21, Beganovic has already turned heads in the motorsport scene by participating in F1 first practice sessions for Ferrari in Bahrain and Austria this year.
Hailing from Sweden, Beganovic has been making waves in Formula 2, securing a pole position and two podium finishes this season for Hitech TGR. This success comes in his first full season in the category after making a few appearances last year, solidifying his status as a promising young driver on the rise.
Expressing his excitement for the upcoming Formula E opportunity, Beganovic stated, “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to drive for Mahindra Racing at the Berlin Rookie Test, and to try a Formula E car for the first time.” He added, “It’s a great opportunity to get experience and also contribute to the team’s development.”
The inclusion of Beganovic in the rookie test lineup adds to the growing trend of active Formula 2 drivers being given the chance to showcase their skills in Formula E. Alongside Beganovic and Maini, drivers like Gabriele Mini, Alex Dunne, and Jak Crawford are also set to make appearances at the test.
Mahindra team boss, Fred Bertrand, expressed his confidence in Beganovic, highlighting him as a standout choice for the opportunity. “When analysing our options for the Rookie Test in Berlin, Dino quickly emerged as a front-runner for one of the seats,” said Bertrand. “It’s a great opportunity for him to sample what Formula E is all about, and we’re all very excited to work together with him to make the most of it.”
With Beganovic poised to make his mark in Formula E, all eyes will be on the young talent as he steps into the world of electric racing for the first time.
