Xiaomi faces criticism over the wait time for the new YU7.

Xiaomi apresenta o YU7 com 835 km de autonomia

The new Xiaomi YU7, the first SUV from the Chinese brand, generated enormous anticipation at its presentation, leading the company to receive over 240,000 pre-orders for the new model within the first 18 hours after the SUV went on sale.

However, customers who reserved the YU7 will have to wait more than a year to receive the new 100% electric model from Xiaomi, which is generating a wave of complaints against the company.

According to “Reuters”, since the end of last week, more than 400 customers have registered complaints on the Chinese consumer protection platform, arguing that they were not informed about the long wait and are therefore demanding refunds. However, Xiaomi’s app showed that the waiting period for new YU7 buyers is 38 to 60 weeks, according to the same source.

However, customers who feel wronged argue that the brand’s app only shows the estimated waiting time for the new 100% electric model after the order confirmation. Furthermore, customers are concerned that the long waiting period may mean they have to pay more for the YU7, as the tax exemption for electric vehicles in China will end at the end of 2025.

Remember that to place an order for the new YU7, customers had to make a non-refundable deposit of ¥5,000 (US$ 697.97 or €590) to request a model that has a starting price of ¥253,500 (US$ 35,360 or €29,912),

Xiaomi is focused on increasing production at its factory in Beijing and is now planning to expand the production unit to new grounds. It is worth noting that the Chinese brand announced that monthly production increased from 4,000 units in March to 28,000 units in May.
