Hamilton nega que o carro de F1 Mercedes W15 seja uma versão negativa de seus modelos anteriores.

Lewis Hamilton, the British driver for Mercedes AMG in Formula 1, has rejected claims that the team’s car for 2024 is inferior to its predecessors. Despite a challenging start to the current season, with only one victory in the last two years, Hamilton denies that the W14 is the “evil twin” of the W13 from 2022. Mercedes revamped the concept of their car for 2024 in an attempt to overcome previous limitations and improve performance. However, Hamilton struggled with the unstable rear during the race in Saudi Arabia, finishing in ninth place. Despite these setbacks, he remains optimistic about the team’s potential and believes they have not fully explored the capabilities of their car. Hamilton and his teammate, George Russell, praised the W15 during pre-season testing, and the car showed promising pace in practice sessions. The challenge for Mercedes is to find the ideal operating window for the car, as it has a narrow range in which it performs best.

Hamilton has an impressive record of eight pole positions at Albert Park, but he is unsure about his chances of beating Red Bull and Ferrari on the podium. When asked about the possibility of securing a top three finish in Australia this weekend, Hamilton replied, “We’re not sure. Perhaps, with the modifications we’ve made, the car will be in a more favorable position, similar to what we witnessed during some tests in Bahrain. However, we will only discover the truth tomorrow.”

Realistically, Hamilton acknowledges the remarkable progress made by his competitors. He recognizes the significant improvement of Aston Martin, as well as the advances of Ferrari. McLaren and Red Bull have also done exceptional work with their packages. The competition will be fierce, and Red Bull is likely to have the advantage. The overall competition is tighter compared to last year.

However, Hamilton highlights the strength of his car, especially in medium and low-speed corners. He witnessed this in the previous race and expects to experience it again. He assures that they will give their maximum effort and fight fiercely this weekend.

Despite not adding to his record number of wins since December 2021, Hamilton remains optimistic about his final season with Mercedes. He firmly believes that the team maintains a winning mentality and has full confidence in their ability to handle any issues they face. He acknowledges the significant points difference between him and Max Verstappen but emphasizes that it is a long season and anything can happen. Catching up to his rivals will be a challenge, considering the exceptional performance of their car. However, they are determined to improve their performance and aim for wins and podiums.

Hamilton expresses his admiration for the achievements of finishing second in the Constructors’ Championship last year, despite the challenges faced with the car. This demonstrates their capabilities even without a flawless vehicle. He hopes to replicate this success in the current season, aiming for wins and podiums. He believes that achieving such results would be truly remarkable.
