Toyota’s Acropolis Rally Greece Dream Turns into Nightmare as Rovanperä and Katsuta Exit Stage

In a shocking turn of events, Toyota faced a double blow at the Acropolis Rally Greece as both Kalle Rovanperä and Takamoto Katsuta had to retire on the same stage, leaving fans and the team devastated.

Rovanperä, who was in eighth place, encountered unexpected trouble when he overshot a corner and found himself stuck in a perplexing situation. Despite efforts from spectators to help him get back on track, a potential brake issue forced him to reluctantly park his GR Yaris Rally1, risking a significant setback in the championship standings.

On the other hand, Katsuta’s promising fifth-place position took a hit as he ran into trouble just a few corners away from completing the challenging 15-mile stage. His Toyota got stranded on the road’s edge, leaving him with no choice but to retire from the rally, further deepening Toyota’s woes.

While the double retirement did not cause major shifts in the leaderboard, it did create an opportunity for Thierry Neuville to climb into the top-five, with Ott Tänak still leading the rally by a commanding 35.7-second margin over Sébastien Ogier, closely followed by Adrien Fourmaux.

The day also saw challenges for other drivers, with Josh McErlean facing a handbrake issue similar to his M-Sport teammate Grégoire Munster, who continued to struggle with the problem throughout the rally.

As the Acropolis Rally Greece unfolds with unexpected twists and turns, Toyota faces a tough road ahead to recover from the setbacks and regain momentum in the fiercely competitive event.
