Ott Tänak Seizes Acropolis Rally Lead, Rovanperä Suffers Puncture Plunge

In a stunning turn of events at the Acropolis Rally Greece, Ott Tänak seized the lead from Sébastien Ogier, while Kalle Rovanperä faced a setback with a puncture on SS6. The rally’s leaderboard witnessed a dramatic shift as Tänak dominated the stage, leaving his rivals in the dust and establishing a commanding 10.1s lead over the competition.

Despite Tänak’s impressive performance, he acknowledged the role of road cleaning in his success, cautioning that starting position played a significant factor in the stage results. Adrien Fourmaux also made significant gains, trailing Tänak by a mere 5.0s overall after a stellar run on SS6.

Rovanperä, who had been holding a strong position, encountered misfortune as he lost precious time changing a punctured tire, causing him to slide down the leaderboard. The rally further saw Toyota’s Sami Pajari forced to retire on the road section, further reshuffling the standings.

Elfyn Evans emerged as a major beneficiary of the day’s events, climbing to fourth place, while Grégoire Munster’s cautious approach paid off, securing him the fifth position overall. Rovanperä found himself in seventh place, trailing behind Takamoto Katsuta, who also faced tire issues earlier in the day.

The Acropolis Rally Greece continues to deliver intense competition and unexpected twists, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as the drivers battle it out on the challenging Greek terrain.
