Norris vence sessão de treinos caótica do Grande Prêmio da Austrália.

Alex Albon suffered a serious accident during the intense free practice session of the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. The session was full of dangerous moments and was led by Lando Norris.

Albon caused a red flag when he went over the kerb at Turn 6, causing his car to collide violently with the wall on the right side. The car then slid into the wall on the left side with less impact, but still scattered debris on the track.

Albon was able to get out of the car safely and apologized to his team over the radio. The session was briefly interrupted for clean-up.

The presence of the red flag during this session was not surprising, considering the numerous near-miss moments that occurred. What was surprising, however, was that Albon crashed in a different location, as most of the dramatic moments occurred at the fast Esses at the beginning of the final sector.

The first driver to face a reflex test was Oscar Piastri at Turns 9 and 10, where he managed to recover from a slight instability in his McLaren. This was just the beginning of a series of increasingly dramatic moments.

Fernando Alonso also had a dangerous moment when he went through the gravel at high speed after Turn 10, but fortunately avoided hitting the wall. George Russell had to use the escape area after experiencing a more extreme version of Piastri’s instability, cutting the second part of the corner.

Valtteri Bottas also had a moment of loss of control, spinning 360 degrees between Turns 9 and 10 before returning to the track without causing damage through the gravel.

After the red flag caused by Albon’s accident, the session resumed with Norris maintaining his position at the top of the leaderboard. Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Sergio Perez had off-track moments in the final minutes of the session.

Verstappen managed to secure the second best time without setting a personal best time in any of the sectors. Russell also achieved a similar result, aided by an improved final sector, finishing third for Mercedes. Charles Leclerc, Yuki Tsunoda, and Perez were all within a tenth of a second of Norris in sixth place.

Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz closely followed in seventh and eighth place, respectively, while Hamilton finished in ninth place, 0.207 seconds behind the leader. Piastri completed the top 10.
