Callum Design, the company of designer Ian Callum, has joined forces with the Mini coachbuilding company, Wood & Pickett, for a modern version of the Mini MK5 Sports Pack, which was the last derivative of the model before production ended in 2001.
This updated version of the well-known Mini features redesigned front and rear bumpers, a new LED light signature at the front and rear, 13’’ four-spoke alloy wheels designed by Callum specifically for this project, and a body paint in a custom metallic Anthracite shade.
Inside, the highlight is the wooden dashboard inspired by the old Wood and Pickett conversions, which features metal switches, USB charging ports, and a perfectly integrated infotainment screen that allows smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the cabin is upholstered in Bridge of Weir Tan leather, and the seats have been customized.
The engine of this restomod is an updated version of an A-Series that has increased from 1275 to 1310 cc, after being enhanced with new cylinder heads, two-point fuel injection, and a specific dual-exit exhaust.
This set of modifications allowed for a power output of 112 hp, compared to the original 64 hp. Furthermore, the power is sent to the front axle through a reinforced five-speed manual gearbox, which has been strengthened to handle the increased engine power.
The chassis has also been updated for better dynamic behavior, in addition to reducing noise and vibration. This update also includes a new suspension tuned for road use, as well as a braking system with ventilated and slotted 8.4” discs.
The Wood and Pickett Mini by Callum will be hand-produced in limited quantities in the UK, and since each customer can choose the type of customization, the price of this special Mini starts at £75,000, which is approximately €88,000.
