Carlos Sainz Takes Charge in Shaping Madrid’s F1 Circuit Future

Spanish racing sensation Carlos Sainz is leading the charge in the development of Madrid’s thrilling new street circuit, set to debut on the Formula 1 calendar next year. With an ambassadorial role for the ‘Madring’, Sainz is actively involved in ensuring that the circuit offers a challenging and exciting experience for both drivers and fans alike.

Spanning over 3.3 miles with 22 corners, the Madrid circuit will showcase iconic city landmarks, blending street and purpose-built sections, including a banked area to test the skills of the drivers. Sainz, a native of Madrid, emphasizes the importance of creating a circuit with unique character and personality to enhance the overall racing spectacle.

“I’m trying to have an effect and influence in some corners to make sure they produce the right amount of overtaking and show,” Sainz expressed. He aims to introduce strategic modifications to the layout to maximize overtaking opportunities and deliver a thrilling race for spectators.

The Madrid Grand Prix, scheduled for September 13, is set to replace Imola on the 2026 calendar, with Sainz optimistic that the ‘Madring’ will establish itself as a fan-favorite, akin to the vibrant atmosphere of circuits in the Americas. Sainz envisions Madrid bringing a new level of excitement and energy to European racing, reminiscent of iconic tracks like Austin, known for their distinctiveness and allure.

As the F1 landscape evolves, Sainz advocates for circuits with character and personality, highlighting the significance of modernizing European venues while preserving their unique charm. With Madrid poised to set a new standard for racing events in Europe, Sainz anticipates a thrilling and unforgettable experience for fans and drivers alike.

Stay tuned as Carlos Sainz spearheads the transformation of Madrid’s F1 circuit, shaping the future of motorsport with innovation and passion.
