The roar of engines filled the air at Road America as the Indy NXT by Firestone series kicked off its first practice session for the Grand Prix. And it was Caio Collet who stole the show by setting the pace with a blistering lap time of 1 minute, 53.1345 seconds in his No. 76 HMD Motorsports car.
Despite facing a minor setback that required his team to quickly replace a malfunctioning starter, the Brazilian driver showcased his skill and experience in INDY NXT machinery. Collet’s performance put him at the top of the charts, leaving his competitors in awe.
Rookie of the Year, Dennis Hauger, closely followed Collet with a time of 1:53.5279 in the No. 28 Nammo car. His teammate, Hughes, proved his mettle by securing the third spot with a time of 1:53.8290 in the No. 26 McGinley Clinic/USF Pro Championship machine.
The battle for the top spots heated up as veteran James Roe of Andretti Global made his presence known by claiming the fourth position with a time of 1:53.8357 in the No. 29 Topcon car. Andretti Global continued to dominate the field with Salvador de Alba rounding out the top five.
