Flavio Briatore Unleashes Fiery Response to Critics Regarding Franco Colapinto’s Future at Alpine

In a scathing rebuttal, Flavio Briatore of Alpine has slammed the speculative reports circulating about Franco Colapinto, attributing them to his homeland of Argentina. Amidst swirling rumors about Colapinto’s status within Alpine, Briatore fiercely defended the young driver, emphasizing the team’s satisfaction with his performance and the progress made during the Canadian Grand Prix.

Transitioning from a reserve to a race driver for Alpine at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Colapinto’s initial five-race deal is set to conclude after the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix. With questions looming about his future with the team, Briatore asserted that the engineers are pleased with Colapinto’s contributions and hinted at a potential contract extension beyond the British Grand Prix next month.

Facing criticism for his lack of points in the F1 2025 season, Colapinto has been under scrutiny, prompting Briatore to address the issue head-on. Dismissing the rumors as baseless, Briatore called out the press for spreading misinformation and urged for more support and less pressure on the young driver.

Despite the challenges, Colapinto showed promise at the Canadian Grand Prix, outperforming his teammate Pierre Gasly during qualifying and clinching a respectable 13th position in the race. Briatore revealed the extensive efforts taken to enhance Colapinto’s performance, including adjustments to the car and rigorous simulator sessions in England.

While Colapinto expressed disappointment with the race outcome, citing strategy missteps and tough competition on the track, he remains optimistic about his progress and understanding of the Alpine A525. With ongoing improvements and a positive outlook, Colapinto is determined to continue his development and strive for better results in the upcoming races.
