Nico Rosberg sparks Ferrari UK base uproar, blasting team’s operational shortcomings

Former Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg dropped a bombshell by exposing a shocking rumor about Ferrari possibly setting up a base in the UK. This revelation comes amidst scathing criticism of the Italian team’s operational structure, which Rosberg claims is lacking in excellence compared to their British rivals like Mercedes.

Ferrari has been struggling in the 2025 season, trailing a massive 191 points behind their competitors after just 10 rounds. With Charles Leclerc leading the charge but still 94 points adrift from the championship leader, Ferrari’s hopes for a title win seem bleak.

Speculations about Team Principal Fred Vasseur’s job security have been circulating, but he swiftly dismissed these rumors. However, Rosberg shed light on another behind-the-scenes whisper, emphasizing the shortcomings in Ferrari’s operations and culture.

In an interview on Sky Sports’ The F1 Show, Rosberg criticized Ferrari’s level of excellence, particularly in comparison to British teams. He highlighted the challenges the team faces being based in Italy, suggesting that a UK subsidiary could be on the horizon to tap into the F1 ecosystem.

The potential move to establish a UK base could have implications for Ferrari’s new recruit, seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton. While it might benefit Hamilton as he transitions to the Italian outfit, Rosberg cautioned that it could introduce communication hurdles between the UK base and Ferrari’s headquarters.

The former F1 driver pointed out the communication inefficiencies and decision-making complexities within Ferrari, contrasting it with the streamlined approach at Mercedes, where Hamilton previously raced. Rosberg emphasized the importance of clear communication and decisive leadership in a high-stakes environment like Formula 1.

As Ferrari contemplates a strategic shift to enhance its competitiveness, the motorsport world waits with bated breath to see if the legendary team will make a bold move to shake up the status quo and reclaim its former glory on the F1 circuit.
