SCM avança com final em P4 em Sebring.

Team manager of Sean Creech Motorsport (SCM), Sean Creech, acknowledges that his team is making progress after achieving a fourth place in the LMP2 class at the 12 Hours of Sebring. SCM is known for competing with the only Ligier JS P217 in the LMP2 category of the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship. In the second round of the championship, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Ligier #33 finished in an impressive fourth place after facing major reliability issues in the opening of the 24 Hours of Daytona. Creech expressed his pride in the team’s performance and their determination to never give up, despite being two laps down. He also mentioned that they gathered valuable information from the weekend and are heading in the right direction.

The Ligier #33 faced a challenging start, as bronze-rated driver Lance Willsey started from the back behind the other 12 Oreca 07 machines. Throughout the race, there were 12 caution periods that allowed the LMP2 competitors to stay on the same lap as the leader. SCM’s only setback occurred when Willsey spun to avoid an incident with another LMP2 car, causing him to stop the Ligier #33 and lose two laps after restarting the power system. Despite this, Willsey expressed his satisfaction with the fourth place considering the limited testing and challenges faced in Daytona. He credited the hard work and dedication of the team and drivers for their success.

During the race, Jonny Edgar set the fastest lap for #33, closely followed by teammate Joao Barbosa. However, it was the strategy adopted during the final hour, especially in the last pit stop, that played a crucial role in their impressive fourth place. Edgar highlighted the improved performance of the car compared to Thursday’s practice and Daytona, attributing it to the team’s strategy and ability to recover lost laps when needed.

SCM’s timely pit stop call during the 12th and final caution period elevated them to fifth position, which later turned into fourth place after a competitor dropped out. Edgar mentioned that the car performed exceptionally well at night and emphasized the importance of understanding the reason to consistently achieve good results.

Overall, Sean Creech Motorsport is pleased with their progress and positive outcome at the 12 Hours of Sebring. They are determined to keep moving forward and improving their performance in the upcoming races.
