Former Formula 1 champion Jenson Button has dropped a bombshell on the racing world by announcing his upcoming retirement from full-time racing at the end of the current season. The British racing icon, who clinched the F1 world championship in 2009, has had a remarkable career spanning various racing series beyond F1.

Button, known for his stints in NASCAR, IMSA, and the World Endurance Championship, recently participated in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans race but fell short of victory. Despite his diverse racing ventures and successes, the 45-year-old is now ready to take a step back from the intense world of full-time racing.

In a candid interview, Button expressed his need to prioritize other aspects of his life, hinting at the impossibility of juggling all his commitments. He emphasized that while he plans to scale back his racing endeavors next year, he still has a passion for competitive racing and intends to participate in selected events.

Throughout his illustrious career, Button has not only secured an F1 title and multiple race wins but has also showcased his skills in different racing disciplines, proving his versatility as a driver. Despite his upcoming shift towards a less hectic racing schedule, Button remains dedicated to the sport and eager to continue contributing to the racing world in various capacities.

As one of the most respected figures in motorsport, Button’s decision to retire from full-time racing marks the end of an era in the racing community. Fans and fellow racers alike will undoubtedly miss seeing him on the track regularly, but his legacy as a racing legend will endure for years to come.
