The Formula 1 world was shaken to its core as stewards rejected Red Bull’s protest and decided not to penalize Lando Norris in the Canadian Grand Prix. The post-race chaos unfolded with Red Bull accusing George Russell of unsporting behavior and attempting to trick Max Verstappen, but their claims were swiftly shut down by the stewards. The intense drama didn’t end there, as Norris found himself in hot water for colliding with his teammate Oscar Piastri.

Red Bull’s protest centered around Russell’s alleged erratic driving behind the safety car and the distance he maintained. Christian Horner, the Red Bull team principal, emphasized that Russell’s actions were a deliberate ploy to hinder Verstappen. However, Mercedes, representing Russell, defended the driver’s maneuvers as normal safety precautions during a safety car period.

The stewards, after a meticulous five-hour review, sided with Mercedes, dismissing all of Red Bull’s claims. They concluded that Russell did not drive erratically and did not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct. This decision dealt a significant blow to Red Bull’s hopes of penalizing their rival.

Meanwhile, Lando Norris faced scrutiny for his collision with Piastri, where he took full responsibility for misjudging the space available. Despite being deemed at fault, Norris escaped with just a five-second time penalty, which did not affect his grid position for the next race.

The Canadian Grand Prix proved to be a rollercoaster of emotions, with teams and drivers navigating through protests and penalties. As the championship battle heats up, every decision by the stewards could have far-reaching consequences in the quest for the coveted F1 title.
