Carlos Sainz left devastated following a disastrous qualifying incident that shattered his Canadian Grand Prix weekend. The Formula 1 driver expressed his frustration after being obstructed by Isack Hadjar during the qualifying session, leading to a disappointing 17th place finish in Q1.

Sainz, who had shown promising pace throughout the weekend, was left feeling robbed of the opportunity to compete at the front of the grid. The Spaniard vented his disappointment, stating, “If in Q1 you arrive and there’s a guy in the middle of the road that completely blows your qualifying away and means that your weekend is destroyed.”

The incident occurred when Sainz encountered a slow-moving Hadjar during his final lap, resulting in a three-place grid penalty for the latter. Sainz believed that Hadjar was intentionally causing him trouble, but later realized that the young driver was unaware of his presence and intentions to push for a fast lap.

Despite his frustration, Sainz managed to secure a one-position improvement on the starting grid due to a 10-place grid penalty imposed on another driver, Yuki Tsunoda.

The Spanish driver’s hopes of a strong qualifying performance were dashed by the unfortunate turn of events, leaving him disheartened and eager to make up for the lost opportunity in the upcoming race.

The Canadian Grand Prix weekend took an unexpected turn for Sainz, who now looks ahead to the race with determination and a drive to overcome the setbacks faced during qualifying.
