In a shocking turn of events at the Canadian Grand Prix, Lando Norris declared it as the “toughest Friday of the year” for McLaren. Despite finishing in second place in the FP2 session, Norris expressed his struggles with the car’s handling and setup, labeling it as the most challenging Friday yet.

Norris pointed out that Mercedes, led by George Russell, currently holds the advantage, especially considering their strong performance at this track last year. Despite the difficulties faced, Norris remains hopeful and believes that McLaren is in the mix, emphasizing the need to improve the drivability of the car to stay competitive throughout the weekend.

“The track is tough, but it was definitely our toughest Friday of the year so far – not the worst in terms of pace, but the most challenging in terms of setup and complexity. We’re not far off, we just need to make driving a bit easier,” Norris stated optimistically.

Acknowledging the fierce competition, Norris highlighted the speed of Mercedes, reminiscent of their dominance at the circuit in the previous season. “The Mercedes seems very, very fast right now, just like they were last year here – they were easily the best last year. We expected them to be quick, and they proved that today,” he added.

As the Grand Prix weekend unfolds, all eyes will be on McLaren as they strive to optimize their performance and tackle the fierce competition from Mercedes and other teams vying for the top spot. Stay tuned for more updates as the action-packed race in Canada continues to heat up.
