In a thrilling second practice session at the Canadian Grand Prix, all eyes were on Mercedes driver George Russell as he dominated the track, leaving McLaren’s Lando Norris trailing behind.

Russell’s impressive performance saw him take the lead early on with a blistering lap on medium tires, setting the stage for an exciting tyre strategy battle in the upcoming qualifying session. Even Norris couldn’t catch up to Russell’s pace on soft tires, highlighting the Mercedes driver’s exceptional form.

However, the session was not without its share of drama as Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll suffered significant damage to his car after a collision with the wall, adding to his woes as he strives to make an impact in front of his home crowd.

As Russell continued to showcase his prowess with top lap times, his rookie teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli also made waves by securing the third spot on the timesheets, signaling a strong performance from the Mercedes team overall.

Not to be outdone, Williams’ Alex Albon impressed with his speed on a circuit that favors his car, while Fernando Alonso’s solid showing in the Aston Martin garnered praise from onlookers.

Meanwhile, championship leader Oscar Piastri faced some struggles and could only manage sixth place, emphasizing the fierce competition among the drivers vying for the top spot.

The session also saw setbacks for some big names, including Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who was forced to sit out due to a chassis change following a crash in the previous practice session. Lewis Hamilton, the sole Ferrari representative on the track, faced challenges but managed to secure eighth place by the end of the session.

Max Verstappen, who had topped the charts in FP1, faced difficulties with his Red Bull car, but a late surge pushed him into the top ten, edging out Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson in the process.

As teams analyze the data and fine-tune their strategies for the upcoming races, the competition is heating up at the Canadian Grand Prix, promising fans a weekend filled with adrenaline-pumping action and unexpected twists on the iconic Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
