Carlos Sainz Lashes Out at Media Amid Ferrari Turmoil

Amid swirling rumors of Fred Vasseur’s possible exit from Ferrari, Carlos Sainz has come to the defense of the embattled team principal. Ferrari, facing a challenging start to the 2025 Formula 1 season, has been under intense scrutiny from the Italian media as they lag behind McLaren by a staggering 197 points in the Constructors’ Championship after nine races.

Despite mounting pressure and speculation about Vasseur’s future, Ferrari has adamantly dismissed these rumors as mere “fantasy.” The team, without a single race win in 2025, is struggling to meet the lofty expectations set at the beginning of the season, especially after narrowly missing out on the Constructors’ title in the previous year.

Sainz, now thriving at Williams after leaving Ferrari, has been vocal in his support for Vasseur. The Spaniard, who played a pivotal role in Ferrari’s second-place finish in 2024, has expressed his admiration for his former boss, highlighting their positive relationship despite past challenges.

In a recent statement to the media, Sainz criticized the F1 media for their tendency to engage in “finger-pointing” whenever Ferrari faces setbacks. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the process and delivering results, rather than succumbing to external pressures and distractions.

Reflecting on Ferrari’s current struggles, Sainz shared insights from his time with the team, expressing surprise at their difficulties this season. He believed that Ferrari was well-positioned to challenge for the championship, a sentiment he had conveyed to his former teammate Charles Leclerc and the rest of the team.

While acknowledging his lack of involvement in the development of the 2025 cars, Sainz pointed out that McLaren’s exceptional performance this season has further exacerbated Ferrari’s challenges. He credited McLaren’s strong driver lineup and overall team performance for their dominance in Formula 1.

As the speculation surrounding Fred Vasseur’s future continues to swirl, Carlos Sainz’s outspoken support adds a new dimension to the ongoing Ferrari saga. With the Canadian Grand Prix on the horizon, all eyes will be on Ferrari and their quest to turn their season around amidst growing uncertainty and scrutiny.
