In a heart-stopping moment at the NASCAR Cup race in Michigan, Alex Bowman, representing Hendrick Motorsports, faced a harrowing crash that brought his race to a sudden halt. The impact, caused by contact from Cole Custer, sent Bowman’s No. 48 Chevrolet careening into the outside wall at a jaw-dropping speed of 150mph. The collision, described by Bowman as one of the most significant of his career, left fans and fellow drivers holding their breath.

Despite being no stranger to injuries, with a history that includes a concussion and a back injury in recent years, Bowman has received the green light to compete this weekend in Mexico City. This road course event presents a crucial opportunity for Bowman, whose last Cup Series victory dates back to the Chicago Street Course last summer.

To ensure preparedness for any eventuality, Hendrick Motorsports has enlisted Anthony Alfredo as a standby for Bowman at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Alfredo, a regular in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and a simulator driver for HMS, brings his expertise to the team. With Bowman currently positioned 13th in the championship standings after a challenging season, the addition of Alfredo signifies a strategic move to maintain momentum and performance consistency for the No. 48 team.

As Bowman gears up to return to the track, eyes will be on his performance and resilience following the recent setback at Michigan International Speedway. With Alfredo waiting in the wings, the stage is set for a weekend of high stakes and intense competition in Mexico City.
