Italian F1 Team Principal on the Brink of Being Sacked!

Rumors are swirling in the Italian F1 media regarding the future of Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur. After taking the reins from Mattia Binotto at the start of the 2023 season, Vasseur’s position is now in jeopardy, with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2025 season.

Despite coming tantalizingly close to clinching their first world championship since 2008 in 2024, Ferrari has struggled to maintain their momentum in 2025. The team currently lags a staggering 197 points behind McLaren after nine races, despite the high-profile signing of seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton.

With the pressure mounting for Ferrari to deliver a competitive car for Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in 2026, Italian publication Gazzetta has pointed out that the upcoming races at the Canadian GP, Austrian GP, and Silverstone GP will be pivotal in determining Vasseur’s future with the team.

While Leclerc’s recent podium finishes have provided a glimmer of hope for Ferrari, Hamilton’s lackluster performances have raised concerns within the team. The decision to part ways with Carlos Sainz, who secured two race victories in 2024, now seems to be under scrutiny as Hamilton struggles to match Leclerc’s pace on the track.

As the pressure mounts on Vasseur to extract the best from his star driver, time is running out for the team principal to prove his worth and secure his position for the 2026 season. The upcoming races will serve as a litmus test for Ferrari’s leadership and their ability to compete at the highest level of Formula 1.
