Former F1 World Champion Makes Headlines with Iconic McLaren Reunion

In an electrifying turn of events, former F1 world champion Jenson Button has set the motorsport world abuzz by rekindling an iconic partnership from his glory days with the McLaren team. Button, who clinched the 2009 world championship with Brawn GP in a sensational season, later made a move to McLaren where he teamed up with 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton, creating an all-British driver lineup that had fans on the edge of their seats.

While Hamilton eventually made his way to Mercedes in 2013, Button remained loyal to McLaren until the conclusion of his career in 2016. The racing veteran even made a brief comeback in 2017 for the Monaco Grand Prix, filling in for the absence of Fernando Alonso. Throughout his tenure at McLaren, Button prominently sported the logo of banking giant Santander on his racing overalls, as the bank sponsored the McLaren team between 2007-2020.

Now, Button has once again joined forces with Santander, this time as an ambassador for the brand alongside former F1 team executive Claire Williams. The announcement of this partnership was initially made via Button’s Instagram account a few weeks ago. However, the excitement doesn’t stop there. The 2009 F1 champion is spearheading a groundbreaking global education campaign launched by Santander through their educational platform, Santander Open Academy.

In a playful twist, Button stars in an advertising campaign where he delves into his ‘life after F1’, showcasing his versatility beyond the racetrack. Despite his ambassadorial role, Button, now 45, continues to stay active in the racing scene. From NASCAR to IMSA and Super GT racing, he has now found his calling in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the Cadillac Hertz Team Jota outfit.

The adrenaline doesn’t stop there for Button, as he gears up for the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race this weekend, aiming to conquer the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans and inch closer to completing motorsport’s prestigious triple crown. Beyond his racing endeavors, Button also graces the screens as a pundit on Sky Sports F1, offering expert insights from the F1 paddock, with his most recent appearance being at the 2025 Monaco GP.

Jenson Button’s journey continues to captivate motorsport enthusiasts worldwide, as he seamlessly transitions between roles both on and off the track.
