Madrid’s Rise in F1 Calendar: Imola’s Departure Shakes Up 2026 Season

The Formula 1 2026 calendar has been unveiled, and it’s causing shockwaves in the racing world as Madrid steps in to replace Imola. The highly anticipated season will kick off on March 8th in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix, culminating in Abu Dhabi on December 6th, comprising a total of 24 race weekends.

One of the most significant changes in the calendar is the absence of Imola’s Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, which failed to renew its contract and is now excluded from the lineup. This move has paved the way for Madrid to make its debut as a host city, taking over from Barcelona and adding a thrilling twist to the championship.

The season will see Australia reclaim its traditional role as the season opener due to the Ramadan holiday, with Bahrain taking a backseat. Fans can expect an action-packed schedule with double-headers, standalone events, and exciting races in iconic locations like Monaco, Zandvoort, and the newly introduced Madrid street circuit.

Moreover, the 2026 calendar features a tight conclusion with six race weekends in seven weeks, including two triple-headers. The championship will wrap up with a thrilling finale in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, promising fans a spectacular end to an adrenaline-fueled season.

Teams and manufacturers will have ample preparation time for the new season, with three three-day tests scheduled in Barcelona and Bahrain to adjust to the all-new cars and power units set to debut in 2026. This move aims to level the playing field and enhance competition among the participants, guaranteeing an electrifying year of Formula 1 action.

Overall, the 2026 Formula 1 calendar is set to redefine racing standards, with new locations, intense rivalries, and cutting-edge technology promising fans a season like never before. Get ready for heart-stopping moments, fierce battles, and unparalleled excitement as the world’s premier racing series gears up for another unforgettable year on the track.
