Carlos Sainz’s Struggle at Williams Sends Shockwaves Through F1 Community

In a stunning turn of events, former Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz finds himself in a precarious position at Williams, with F1 World Champion Nico Rosberg expressing grave concern over his performance in the 2025 season. Falling significantly behind teammate Alex Albon in points, Sainz is facing a daunting challenge at his new team, leaving many to wonder if he can overcome this setback.

Joining Williams amidst high expectations after being replaced by Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, Sainz’s underwhelming performance has raised eyebrows in the F1 world. Despite being a seasoned driver with four race wins under his belt, Sainz has struggled to adapt to the FW47 car, putting him at a considerable disadvantage compared to Albon.

With the Canadian Grand Prix looming, Sainz trails Albon by a staggering 30 points, a gap that is causing alarm within the Williams team and beyond. While Sainz showed glimpses of his potential with four consecutive points finishes, a disappointing outing at the Barcelona Grand Prix has cast doubts on his ability to bounce back.

Rosberg, a former Williams driver himself, did not mince his words when discussing Sainz’s predicament, stating, “It’s not been the easiest of starts to the season. Alex has done a fantastic job… He is very, very far behind Alex on the points. That’s very, very uncomfortable for him to be in that kind of situation.”

Sainz has attributed his slow start to the limited pre-season testing in F1, criticizing the compressed schedule as “ridiculous” and calling for more testing days to help drivers acclimate to new cars. Despite setting the fastest time during pre-season testing in Bahrain, Sainz admitted that he was still far from where he needed to be.

As Sainz grapples with the challenges of adapting to a new team and car, questions loom over his future in F1. Will he be able to turn the tide and prove his critics wrong, or is this the beginning of the end for the talented driver? Only time will tell as the F1 season unfolds and Sainz fights to reclaim his position among the elite drivers on the grid.
