Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari F1 Saga: Signing Regret or Masterstroke in Disguise?

Former Ferrari Boss Criticizes Lewis Hamilton’s Arrival Timing at Scuderia

The Formula 1 world is abuzz with controversy as former Ferrari team boss, Mattia Binotto, lashes out at the timing of Lewis Hamilton’s entry into the iconic Italian racing team. Binotto claims that Ferrari signed the seven-time world champion “a few years too late,” insinuating that Hamilton is now at the “end of his career.”

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in anticipation of the 2025 F1 championship was met with great fanfare and expectations. However, the seasoned driver has faced challenges in adapting to his new team, struggling to match the pace set by his younger teammate, Charles Leclerc. Despite some successes in Sprint events, Hamilton has notably fallen short in the grand prix races, raising concerns about his performance and speed.

Binotto, who led Ferrari from 2019 to 2022, expressed his belief that Ferrari missed the ideal timing to acquire Hamilton, stating, “The ideal would have been to be able to have it a few years earlier.” The former Ferrari boss suggested that Hamilton, now 40 years old, may have been past his prime when he joined the team.

While Hamilton’s performance has been under scrutiny, Ferrari as a whole has faced challenges in the 2025 season. Leclerc, too, has struggled to secure a victory and currently sits in fifth place in the Drivers’ Championship, one spot ahead of Hamilton. Despite a recent improvement at the Spanish Grand Prix, where Leclerc clinched a podium finish, Ferrari still trails behind McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship.

Binotto remains optimistic about Ferrari’s prospects for the remainder of the season, expressing confidence in the team’s capabilities to enhance their performance and potentially secure a win. While the road ahead may be challenging, Binotto believes that Ferrari has the talent and determination to make significant strides in the competitive world of Formula 1.
