Helmut Marko Blames Yuki Tsunoda for Red Bull’s Setback in F1 Constructors’ Championship Race

In a shocking turn of events within the Red Bull Racing Team, Helmut Marko has pointed fingers at Yuki Tsunoda for jeopardizing their chances of clinching the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship this season. The team, currently trailing a whopping 218 points behind the leading McLaren after the Spanish Grand Prix, is facing a crisis due to Tsunoda’s lackluster performance on the track.

After replacing Liam Lawson in the initial races of the season, Tsunoda has been struggling to deliver consistent results, managing to secure just one point in the last three races in Imola, Monaco, and Barcelona. Marko expressed his dissatisfaction with Tsunoda’s form, stating that the team has already written off his possibilities of contributing to a title win this year.

The incident involving Tsunoda in Imola resulted in crucial component damages, leaving him with an outdated car setup compared to his teammate Max Verstappen. Despite showing competitive pace in practice sessions, Tsunoda seems to falter under pressure during qualifying rounds and struggles to adapt swiftly, unlike Verstappen.

While acknowledging Tsunoda’s need for more time to adjust, Marko confirmed that there are no immediate plans to replace him for the remainder of the season. The Austrian team advisor emphasized the urgency for Tsunoda to up his game if Red Bull aims to stay in contention for the Constructors’ Championship.

Marko’s comments in his column for Speedweek shed light on the team’s current predicament, “In the Constructors’ Championship, we have already given up on the overall victory; we no longer have a chance. This is also due to the second driver, as Yuki Tsunoda is struggling to find his rhythm.”

Furthermore, Marko highlighted the technical setbacks caused by Tsunoda’s crash in Imola, affecting the car’s performance, “Unfortunately, he destroyed the new floor and other new parts in the accident, so currently, he is not running the same configuration as Max.” Marko assured that efforts are underway to equip Tsunoda with the necessary upgrades for the upcoming races to enhance his competitiveness.

As the F1 season progresses, all eyes will be on Yuki Tsunoda as he strives to prove his worth and redeem himself in the eyes of the Red Bull Racing management. Will he overcome the challenges and secure crucial points for the team, or will his struggles continue to impede their championship aspirations? The stakes are high, and the pressure is on for Tsunoda to deliver when it matters most on the track.
