Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari F1 Signing Regret Exposed by Former Team Boss

Former Ferrari F1 Boss Criticizes Lewis Hamilton Signing

In a shocking turn of events, former Ferrari F1 boss Mattia Binotto has unleashed a scathing critique on the decision to sign Lewis Hamilton, suggesting that the move came too late in the star driver’s career. Binotto implied that Ferrari missed out on the opportunity to secure Hamilton’s services during his prime, which could have significantly bolstered the team’s performance.

Hamilton made the switch to Ferrari at the beginning of the 2025 season following an illustrious 12-year tenure with Mercedes. However, the seven-time champion has encountered difficulties adapting to the Italian team, failing to secure a spot on the podium so far. Binotto, who took the reins at Ferrari in 2019 during Hamilton’s peak with Mercedes, expressed regret over the timing of the acquisition, stating, “Ferrari got him when he was already at the end of his career.”

The veteran of the Ferrari organization, having served for over two decades before assuming the role of team principal, remains optimistic about Ferrari’s prospects despite their lackluster start to the season. Binotto defended the team’s capabilities, asserting, “I know that they are good, strong, and capable. They will know how to improve the car and do well in the future. And I think Ferrari can take some satisfaction for this year.”

While Ferrari continues to struggle against competitors like McLaren for race victories, Binotto’s bold remarks have sparked debate within the F1 community. The criticism directed at the handling of the Hamilton signing has raised questions about Ferrari’s decision-making process and strategic planning for the future.

As the F1 season unfolds, all eyes will be on Ferrari to see if they can live up to Binotto’s unwavering confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back from their current setbacks. The drama surrounding Hamilton’s move to Ferrari and the team’s performance on the track promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats as the championship race heats up.
