Flavio Briatore Unleashes Fury on Franco Colpinto’s Poor Performance in F1

Formula 1 mogul Flavio Briatore is not holding back his disappointment with Franco Colpinto’s lackluster performance since joining the F1 team, replacing Jack Doohan after the Miami Grand Prix. Despite Colpinto’s impressive stint with Williams last year, his return to Alpine has been nothing short of underwhelming, prompting Briatore to express his dissatisfaction with the young driver’s current form.

Briatore acknowledged the pressure Colpinto is under and still believes the driver has the potential to regain his confidence. However, the team is taking a performance-based approach, with Briatore refusing to confirm the number of races Colpinto will participate in, despite previous reports of a five-race contract.

In a blunt statement to Sky Germany, Briatore declared, “If I said I am happy right now, it would be a lie. I am not happy at all. Now we have to see how the season unfolds for him.” He also emphasized the intense scrutiny Colpinto faces, not only from Argentina but from all sides. Briatore noted that Colpinto is slowly finding his way and expressed hope that the young driver can quickly regain his confidence.

Briatore made it clear that Colpinto’s seat in the car is dependent on his performance. He highlighted the importance of preparing for the future, stating, “2025 is a year where we need to get ready for 2026. So, any experience I need to gain, we will do it.” The decision on whether Colpinto will stay for the season remains uncertain, contingent on his performance. Briatore reiterated, “We are solely focused on performance, nothing else.”

The tension between Briatore and Colpinto is palpable, with Briatore’s no-nonsense approach setting the tone for what is at stake for the young driver in the fiercely competitive world of Formula 1. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Colpinto to see if he can turn the tide and prove his worth on the track.
