Sao Paulo E-Prix: Bird lidera classificação da FP2

Sam Bird, from NEOM McLaren, led the standings in the last practice session before qualifying for today’s São Paulo E-Prix. The British driver, who mentioned that Jaguar TCS Racing had a good start to the week, faced a setback when Mitch Evans had a driveshaft issue early in the session. Nick Cassidy, the current championship leader, only managed a 12th place, which did little to boost the team’s morale.

Mahindra Racing had mixed results, with Nyck de Vries improving from Friday’s performance and securing seventh place. However, Edoardo Mortara’s luck turned for the worse. After finishing third in the previous session, Mortara encountered a technical issue that forced him to stop on the track, resulting in a 17th place. This incident caused a red flag, delaying the session by six minutes. Despite the delay, Evans could not match Bird’s time and finished over a second behind.

Oliver Rowland, from Nissan, showed his impressive pace since Diriyah, finishing the session in third place with a time of 1:12:937. Porsche’s powertrains also showed promise, with Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix da Costa securing fifth and sixth place, respectively. The Avalanche Andrettis, driven by Jake Dennis and Norman Nato, claimed fourth and ninth place.

Sergio Sette Camara, from ERT, also impressed, setting the fastest lap of 1:13:125 and finishing in eighth place. Jehan Daruvala, from Maserati MSG Racing, also showed potential, completing the top 10 as an Indian rookie.
