Frederic Vasseur, Ferrari’s Team Principal, Criticizes Team Radio and Analyzes Barcelona Free Practice Sessions

The Formula 1 scene in Barcelona is heating up as Ferrari’s Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur, voices his concerns about the team’s performance during the Free Practice sessions. After a mixed showing in FP1 and FP2 at the Spanish Grand Prix, where Charles Leclerc finished fifth and Lewis Hamilton eleventh, Vasseur highlighted some key issues faced by the team.

In a statement to Sky UK, Vasseur commented on Ferrari’s day, stating, “We had a great pace in the morning, but struggled a bit more in the afternoon. With Charles, we had a decent lap before the mistake in Turn 7. We found it challenging at the beginning of each long run stint, which was the case not just for us but for a couple of other teams as well. The track was very dirty, with many marbles, making it quite difficult to recover once you went off the racing line.”

Vasseur also expressed his reservations about the extremity of the team radio messages during the sessions, implying that improvements could be made in communication strategies within the team. Additionally, he defended the car’s performance, stating, “The machine wasn’t horrible,” indicating that there is still potential for Ferrari to bounce back stronger in the upcoming sessions.

As the competition tightens and the stakes rise in Barcelona, all eyes are on Ferrari to see if they can overcome their challenges and emerge as strong contenders in the races to come.
