George Russell pede investigação aberta da FIA sobre Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Toto Wolff, chief of the Mercedes team, previously made a request for the same action. In a recent development, George Russell and Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who holds a high position in the FIA, allegedly attempted to manipulate the result of last year’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. These reports were taken seriously by the FIA, leading to an investigation into this controversial figure in the world of motorsport. As a result, the Mercedes star driver called for a thorough and transparent investigation.

During the race in Jeddah, the Aston Martin driver, who secured a third place, was penalized with a 10-second penalty for not positioning his car correctly on the starting grid. George Russell, who initially finished fourth, was then elevated to third place due to Alonso’s penalty. However, the FIA later reversed this decision, forcing Russell to give up his podium position to Alonso. It has now been revealed that Ben Sulayem used his authority to overturn the decision made by FIA officials.

Russell took a step forward to demand a transparent investigation, emphasizing that everyone participates in Formula 1 for fair competition. The British driver expressed his shock and refrained from making further comments. He simply stated that he wants equal opportunities to compete fairly in F1.

George Russell’s season did not start positively, as Mercedes finds itself fighting for midfield positions against McLaren and Aston Martin. In the previous season, Mercedes had a successful campaign, finishing just behind Red Bull in the constructors’ championship.

Both George Russell and his teammate Lewis Hamilton have struggled to adapt to the car this season. Russell secured a seventh place in the standings, with Hamilton close behind in eighth. This performance highlights Mercedes’ decline compared to their main rival, Ferrari. To stay competitive, Mercedes must quickly update their car before the next race at the Melbourne GP. Additionally, they need to stand out in order to find a suitable replacement for Lewis Hamilton, who is set to join Ferrari at the end of the 2024 season.
