Ralf Schumacher destaca o problema da F1 de Fernando Alonso com o tamanho afetando chances de campeões da F2 conseguirem assentos que merecem.

Ralf Schumacher recognized that the presence of more experienced drivers and financial constraints are significant obstacles for young drivers hoping to break into Formula 1.

In the past, winning the F2 championship was often seen as a pathway to immediate promotion to F1. However, it is regrettable that the last two champions of the second-tier open-wheel racing championship are currently serving as reserve drivers for F1 teams. What is even more concerning is that the 2024 F1 grid does not include any rookies, despite several teams having drivers who are not at the top level.

Today’s young drivers, who have great talent and aspirations, do not have a financial safety net to rely on. In addition to the lack of financial support and the rise of paying drivers, another significant factor hindering the progress of young drivers is the enduring careers of F1 veterans like [names of veterans]. These veterans are still able to dominate the entire field. Former F1 driver [driver’s name] recently highlighted this issue, which is detrimental to the future of the sport.

In the past, it was a widely accepted principle that talent would prevail regardless of someone’s financial background. However, this is no longer the case. According to Schumacher, F1 needs to reassess its age criteria to provide opportunities to deserving young talents. Schumacher hopes that other teams will follow Ferrari’s example in giving [driver’s name] the chance to showcase himself at the Saudi Arabian GP in the future.

Fernando Alonso is highly valued by Aston Martin. He joined the team last year and achieved several podiums in the first half of the season. His contract with the team is expiring this year, and other teams have shown interest in him. Aston Martin is aware that they must do everything possible to keep him. The team boss of Aston Martin confirmed this when speaking to the press.

As the oldest driver on the grid, Alonso surprised everyone with his performance last season. With [another driver’s name] moving to Ferrari in 2025, a spot at Mercedes will become available, and Alonso is the obvious choice for that spot. Alonso had previously mentioned that he would make a decision about his future after a few races this season.
